Lightning Protection
The installation of a lightning protection system on the roof, generally requires the lightning conductor tape to be run across, and secured to, the primary waterproofing membrane.
To ensure that Sarnafil roofing systems accommodate the designers requirements for the provision of lightning protection, Sarnafil Ltd have the Sarnafil G/S and Sarnafil TG/TS lightning protection clips manufactured for them exclusively by FURSE.
Installed by a Sarnafil Roofing Contractor or Sarnafil trained and registered FURSE lightning protection installer and subject to the agreement of the Sarnafil Roofing Contractor (who has contractual responsibility for the roof), the Sarnafil lightning protection clips are simply hot air welding directly to the Sarnafil membrane.
The alternative method of attaching lightning conductor clips to Sarnafil membranes is illustrated alongside. This is the traditional method employed for this application and requires a sacrificial layer of membrane to protect the membrane in the event of a lightning strike. Welding the lightning conductor retaining ‘tag’ directly to the waterproofing membrane is not acceptable.
