Sarnametal TG/TS
Sarnametal consists of 1.2mm thick Sarnafil TG membrane factory, laminated to 0.62mm hot dip galvanised steel with a corrosion resistant finish.
 |
 |
It ensures that flashing details are finished with a membrane based termination, eliminating
the differential movement problems of traditional flat roofing trim systems. Once a Sarnametal
TG/TS trim is fabricated and installed, the Sarnafil membrane trim is simply hot air welded to the Sarnametal
trim.

Detail 1.1 All Sarnametal trims require pre-drilling
of the top flange, with a suitable sized clearance hole at staggered 250mm or 150mm centres, depending
on specification. Trims with a face depth of up to 55mm, generally only require face fixing at
the ends of the trim to a Sarnametal jointing plate with a pop rivet. Trims with face depths of
56mm to 110mm, require additional face fixing at 1m centres to prevent damage to the trim after installation.
Trims with a face depth greater than 110mm are generally regarded as fascias and will therefore
require face fixings at 500mm intervals. As an alternative to face fixing, the trim can be hooked
over 1mm galvanised steel cleats, a minimum of 100mm wide at the same centres.

Detail 2.3 Where it is not possible
to use any other form of termination, a Detail 2.3 flashing can be attached to the upstand through the
flat area of the trim, at 250mm centres. The Sarnafil TG/TS roofing membrane is then simply hot
air welded to the face of the trim, covering the fastening method. The top angled part of the
trim is then sealed with Sarnaplast 2235 mastic, after the application of Sarnafil Primer 501.

Detail 2.8 Sarnametal formed into
Detail 2.8, is inserted into a chase in the masonry or brickwork and secured in place prior to the use
of mortar or Sarnaplast 2235 mastic to seal the chase, removing the need for a Lead counterflashing.
Detail 2.8 should be fixed at 250mm centres.
