Sarnacol 2142S
Sarnacol 2142S is a polyurethane based adhesive, coloured blue for clear identification.
It is used to adhere Sarnafil G410-ELF and/or Sarnafil TG76-Felt directly to a solvent resistant, absorbent, dry substrate, free from oil and grease. Such substrates include timber or concrete deck or a thermal insulation board included on the Sarnafil listing Insulation Boards for use with Sarnafil Adhered Systems (pdf). Sarnacol 2142S can also be used to adhere a bitumen vapour control layer to suitable substrates.
Installation Guidelines
- Before use, thoroughly stir the Sarnacol 2142S. Replace the container lid when work is interrupted. If required, warm the Sarnacol 2142S in warm water.
- Unroll the Sarnafil G410-ELF/TG76-Felt and fold back approximately half its length.
- Using a sheepskin or similar roller, apply a coat of Sarnacol 2142S to the roof surface, covering only the area of roof where the membrane is to be laid. Immediately roll the Sarnafil G410-ELF/TG76-Felt membrane onto the wet adhesive, ensuring the weld area is kept free of adhesive.
- Carefully roll over the G410-ELF/TG76-Felt with a water filled roller.
- Fold back the other half of the roll of Sarnafil G410-ELF/TG76-Felt and repeat the procedure.
- Unroll the next roll of Sarnafil G410-ELF/TG76-Felt, ensuring the end laps are staggered and the side overlaps the previously installed sheet by 80mm.
- Repeat the adhering process.
- Fully hot air weld the 80mm side lap and allow to cool completely.
- Mechanically check the integrity of the cooled weld, by running a 4mm wide screwdriver (with rounded edges) along the seam applying pressure into the seam.
Notes:
- The drying (cure) time of the adhesive will depend on the relative humidity. The higher the atmospheric humidity, the quicker the drying/curing will proceed.
- If relative atmospheric humidity is -below 35%, spraying a fine mist of water onto the adhesive after application can accelerate the drying/curing of the adhesive. However, ensure that no drops or pools of water are formed. Use approximately 1 litre of water per 40 m2.
- When using Sarnacol 2142S, the substrate must be clean, free from grease, solvent resistant and can be slightly damp.
- Sarnacol 2142S is not frost resistant and can only be used at temperatures above + 5 °C.
- Sarnacol 2142S can be stored for 1 year in a sealed container stored in a cool place.
