Sarnacol 2170
Sarnacol 2170 is a solvent based contact adhesive, coloured red for clear identification.
It is used to adhere Sarnafil G410-EL or G410-ELF directly to a solvent resistant, absorbent, dry substrate free from oil and grease. Such substrates include timber or concrete deck or a thermal insulation board included on the Sarnafil listing Insulation Boards for use with Sarnafil Adhered Systems (pdf).
Installation Guidelines
- Before use, thoroughly stir the Sarnacol 2170 and replace the container lid when work is interrupted. If required, Sarnacol 2170 can be thinned with Sarna-Cleaner.
- Using a Sarnafil Roller, apply a primer coat of Sarnacol 2170 to the roof surface, priming only the area of roof where the membrane will be laid the same day. Allow adhesive to dry.
- Unroll the Sarnafil G410-EL and fold back approximately half its length.
- Apply Sarnacol 2170 with a Sarnafil roller to the underside of the Sarnafil G410-EL membrane, ensuring the weld area is kept free of adhesive and allow to touch dry.
- Carefully roll out the Sarnafil G410-EL over the previously primed surface and roll with a water filled roller.
- Fold back the other half of the roll of Sarnafil G410-EL and repeat the procedure.
- Unroll the next roll of Sarnafil G410-EL, ensuring the end laps are staggered and the side overlaps the previously installed sheet by 80mm.
- Repeat the adhering process.
- Fully hot air weld the 80mm side lap and allow to cool completely.
- Mechanically check the integrity of the cooled weld, by running a 4mm wide screwdriver (with rounded edges) along the seam applying pressure into the seam.
Notes:
- A priming coat may be necessary on absorbent surfaces.
- Sarnacol 2170 can also be used with Sarnafil G410-ELF, where the membrane is laid directly into the wet adhesive, rather than as a contact adhesive.
- Sarnacol 2170 is highly inflammable and application should be carried out away from flames and sparks.
- Sarnacol 2170 can be stored for 1 year in a sealed container stored in a cool place.
