Vapour Control Layers

A vapour control layer provides a method of meeting the mandatory requirements for the control of condensation, set out in “The Building Regulations Approved Documents F (F1-Means of ventilation, F-2 Condensation in roofs)”, maintaining the thermal and durability targets.  It can significantly contribute to the control of air leakage.

Sarnafil provide a range of vapour control layers, selected to suit a wide range of applications.

EcoVap E

Sarnafil EcoVap E is a 0.16mm thick polyethylene based vapour control layer, with a moisture vapour transmission rate of 0.41 g/m²/24hr and a moisture vapour resistance of 576 MNs/g.  Certified to achieve a B1 fire rating in accordance with DIN 4102, Sarnafil EcoVap E is suitable for use in most mechanically fastened systems.

Installation of the 25m x 5m rolls is by loose laying over any smooth surface with all side and end laps overlapped a minimum 80mm prior to sealing with SarnaVap jointing tape.  At parapets and upstands, the EcoVap must be carried up to the upper edge of the thermal insulation and sealed to the upstand/penetration with SarnaVap jointing tape, to form an airtight seal.  When installed vertically, EcoVap must be mechanically fastened along its top edge.

If the surface is rough, a layer of Sarnafil Type T Felt should be used as cushion layer.

SarnaVap 1000E

SarnaVap 1000E is 0.22mm thick polyethylene-based vapour control layer, with a moisture vapour transmission rate of 0.44 g/m²/24hr and a moisture vapour resistance of greater than 800 MNs/g.  Manufactured from special types of polyethylene, blended to produce a vapour control layer that is flexible when cold, resistant to chemicals and ageing and rot proof, Sarnavap 1000E is suitable for use in most mechanically fastened systems.

SarnaVap 1000E can be installed loose laid over any smooth surface, with all side and end laps overlapped a minimum 80mm and sealed with SarnaVap jointing tape.  At parapets and upstands, the SarnaVap 1000E must be carried up to the upper edge of the thermal insulation and sealed to the upstand/penetration with SarnaVap jointing tape to form an airtight seal.  When installed vertically, SarnaVap must be mechanically fastened along its top edge.  If the surface is rough, a layer of Sarnafil Type T Felt should be used as cushion layer.

SarnaVap control layers are compatible with all other Sarnafil products.

SarnaVap 2000E

SarnaVap 2000E is a 0.30mm thick high performance polyethylene based vapour control layer, with a moisture vapour transmission rate of 0.29 g/m²/24hr and a moisture vapour resistance greater than 1400 MNs/g.  Suitable for use in high internal humidity environments, SarnaVert green roofing systems, loose laid ballasted warm roofing systems and all mechanically fastened systems.

SarnaVap 2000E can be installed loose laid over any smooth surface, with all side and end laps overlapped a minimum 80mm and sealed with SarnaVap jointing tape.  At parapets and upstands, the SarnaVap 2000E must be carried up to the upper edge of the thermal insulation and sealed to the upstand/penetration with SarnaVap jointing tape to form an airtight seal.  When installed vertically, SarnaVap must be mechanically fastened along its top edge.  If the surface is rough a layer of Sarnafil Type T Felt should be used as a cushion layer.

SarnaVap control layers are compatible with all other Sarnafil products.
