National/Scottish Vocational Qualifications (NVQ/SVQ)
During 2004, the Major Contractors Group and many clients have required anyone working on site to hold a Construction Skills Certification Service (CSCS) Card in a move to improve site safety.

Until January 2004, it was possible to obtain a CSCS LINK card based on experience, skills
and up-to-date health and safety awareness. This LINK card grants temporary membership to workers
for a 3 year period and during this time they must get an NVQ or SVQ level 2 or 3 to be able to renew
their CSCS Card. Once the NVQ/SVQ is achieved, and when their LINK card expires, they will automatically
qualify for a full 5 year membership card, as well as a qualification that is theirs for life. If
they do not qualify, then they will not be eligible to work on many construction sites.
To
assist the single ply industry in achieving the goal of a 100% NVQ/SVQ qualified workforce, Sarnafil
Ltd have worked with the CITB and City & Guilds to become
a registered Assessment Centre for NVQ and SVQ Level 2 in Applied Waterproof Membranes Single Ply. This
goal was achieved in 1999, when the Sarnafil Training & Assessment Centre in Norwich was granted
this status.
Currently Sarnafil Ltd employ nine field Technicians, all
qualified as Assessors and also have two Internal Verifiers.
