Site Staff Training

Even the best product can be compromised by poor installation.  That is why Sarnafil systems can only be installed by Sarnafil Registered Contractors, whose office and site staff have been trained in the correct use and installation of Sarnafil Systems.

Training of Sarnafil Registered Contractors’ operatives is carried out by the Sarnafil Applications Department at the purpose built Sarnafil Training and Assessment Centre in Norwich.  For contractors in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, there is a Sarnafil Training Centre in Dublin.  At the centres, operatives are instructed in the specialist techniques required for the successful installation for roofing and waterproofing applications.  There is also ongoing onsite support and advice.

The basic roofing training programme,
CITB grant registration no. ZZFR/13464, consists of a 4-day residential course covering welding techniques, roof system build-ups, accessories and the detailing of typical roof penetrations.  Throughout this practical training, the site operatives are continually assessed and finally required to complete a written test.  Follow up training will then be conducted on the site operative’s first project.

Sarnafil Training & Assessment Centre Sarnafil Training & Assessment Centre LINK Card

Following satisfactory completion of the residential training course, the operative is issued with a credit card sized Sarnafil LINK Card.  This card contains a digital picture of the holder, their unique ID number, their name, the name of the company that sponsored their training, the training completed and the date of issue.  The Sarnafil LINK card is valid for a period of 3 years, after which time it will be renewed free of charge providing that the correct standards of workmanship have been maintained over the previous 3 years.  A fitter not displaying the required quality of work or having spent most of the previous 3 years occupied in other employment will be asked to complete further training.

Once the fitter has been issued with a Sarnafil LINK card, the local Field Technician will raise an assessment form for the fitter and fill in relevant elements of the form every time they witness the operative carrying out assessment items, much like an NVQ assessment.  When all the relevant sections are completed, the fitter will be issued with a Sarnafil Experienced Workers Card stating which of the systems below they have been assessed in:

  • Adhered System
  • Sarnabar System
  • Sarnafast System
  • Sarnafil TG/TS System
  • NVQ Level 2 Applied Waterproofing Membranes
Sarnafil Experienced Workers Cards are valid for 2 years and operate under the same renewal regime as the Sarnafil LINK card.
