Compatibility

Compatibility between the various elements of a roofing system is vital to the longevity of the system.

This rule applies to not only the components in the roof but also any elements interfacing with the waterproofing system such as vertical cladding or rendering.

Sarnafil Ltd aims to ensure the compatibility of all products interfacing in the roof build up, not only our own products included in our specifications.  For example, any thermal insulation designed for use in an adhered system is required to undergo testing at our R & D facility in Switzerland, to ensure that it is not only a suitable adhesive bond, but also that none of our adhesives will affect the performance of the thermal insulant.

Products suitable for this application are listed on the
Insulation Board list.

A common area for problems on site is the sealing of details and interfaces with mastic.  Whilst Sarnafil Ltd provides its own mastic for many applications, we accept that it is not always suitable for every application or that the responsibility for the seal may lie with a third party.  In such cases our
Technical Services Department can advise on the compatibility of a product and, if it has not already been tested, pass the enquiry to our Product Management Department for evaluation and testing where required.
